The all new MX-5 RF

Posted on May 31, 2016 at 10:03 pm

The MX 5 has always been a favourite amongst those looking for a sporty roadster. Even the older models still look sleek and sporty and with very little change in styling over the years the model often seems dateless.

Mazda have now revealed that they will be releasing a new MX 5, the MX 5 RF in 2017. With this new model we can expect to get a built in hard top roof that opens in just 12 seconds, a new colour (machine grey) and the ability to open or close the roof when driving up to 6 MPH rather than having to be at a stand still.

With is fifty fifty weight distribution and rear wheel drive system, it is one of the best handling roadsters available and will impress anyone looking for a thrilling yet safe ride.

Thanks to its SKYACTIV Technology, it is able to deliver all of this whilst still delivering great fuel economy and minimal emissions.

DIY dent removal

Posted on April 30, 2016 at 11:02 pm

Owning a car is an expensive business. Not only do you have to fork out for tax, insurance and services/ MOT’s but there may also be a time when you need body repairs carried out. Body repairs can be expensive as often parts need to be replaced then primed and painted and sometimes even blended to ensure they do not stand out.  With this in mind, DIY dent removal tips can be very handy and make save you a small fortune.

If you have a dent in a plastic bumper then often by applying heat using a hair dryer, you can simply push the dent out yourself, without the need for painting or filling. If the dent is on the metal then you will need to fill and paint it. Only smaller dents can be filled, so for larger dents you will need to try and pull them out a bit first. You can buy tools to do this or you can actually screw something in to the dent and pull it out yourself. The hole will then need filling and painting but will not require much to do so.

Selling your car privately

Posted on March 8, 2016 at 1:18 pm

If you need to sell your car then often you will get the most for it if you do it privately. Selling a car can often be a stressful process. Firstly you need to work out where you are going to advertise it. IF you want to get rid of it quickly and without having to spend anything on advertising then social media sites such as Facebook are a great way to do this. If it is a rare car that you want to advertise to more people then you may consider using something like Auto Trader or even Ebay where you can reach people all over the world.

Work out what is the least you want to take for the car and then add a bit on as you will almost certainly get bartered down on the price. When writing your advert be honest but do not concentrate too much on the negative sides. Many people find it works well to list a selection of good points and bad points to show people that you have nothing to hid and always note that viewing is recommended.

Changing your tyres prior to MOT

Posted on February 19, 2016 at 8:45 pm

A MOT is a test that is designed to check certain features on your car to ensure that it is safe to use on the roads. There are many components that are checked during an MOT and tyres are one of them. Legally tyres must have at least 1.6mm of tread left across at least 75% of the tyre. Although this is the legal limited many garages advise changing them at 3mm.

If your tyres are below the legal limit you can get stopped by the police and issued a ticket for 3 points plus fine for each tyre. Meaning if all four are under the limit you could get 12 points and possibly lose your licence.

Before taking your car for an MOT check the depth on each one of your tyres. You can get a gauge to do this or take it to any garage for them to check for you. If they do need replacing this will give the chance to shop around for the best price prior to having the MOT done.

How to change a light bulb on your car

Posted on January 19, 2016 at 8:14 pm

If an exterior lightbulb goes on your car, it may be a while before you notice it. Some cars do have a warning system that tells you that a bulb has gone, but not always where. Ideally you should always check your lights when going on a long journey, especially if travelling at night but also on a weekly / bi weekly basis.

If you find a bulb has gone then you may need to visit your local garage or Halfords to get a new one. Some cars are relatively easy to fit new bulbs where as others can even require the front bumper to be removed to allow you to get to it. If you do have to do this then you may have to take a trip to a garage for them to fit the bulb for you. If the other bulbs have not been changed in a while, it may be worth replacing all of them to avoid having to pay labour charges again a few weeks or months down the line.
