Hiring a Car Whilst on Holiday

Posted on July 14, 2017 at 11:27 pm

Hiring a car can be one of the best ways to see a new place. It gives you the freedom to go wherever you want to, without having to rely on public transport. There are some things you should bear in mind before you make the decision to hire a car:

• How much will it cost? Rental cars are not always cheap. However, if there is a group of you, this can really cut the cost.
• Insurance. The downside of having multiple drivers is that you will need insurance for all of them. Consider the costs of having one driver or more than on driver.
• The quality of the car. Check the vehicle for any marks before you take it and note down any damage with the hire company.
• Driving abroad. It can be confusing to drive on the other side of the road and on the other side of the car. Decide whether you are up to the challenge.

What to do if you Crash your Company Car

Posted on March 10, 2017 at 3:05 pm

If you have an accident in your company car, the rules about who is responsible can be a little complicated. If you are driving to work or you are going somewhere in your own time, you will be held responsible for the accident. If it is during work time and you are doing something for the company, you employer will probably be deemed responsible for your actions.

Ultimately, though, your insurance should cover anything that needs to be paid out. You should have fully comprehensive insurance to make sure your car and any other vehicles involved in the accident will be covered. You should discuss the terms of your insurance with your company when you first get the company car.

If the crash is not your fault, the other person’s insurance should cover the cost of repair work. Make sure you notify your company immediately if anything happens to your car.

Finding the Perfect Vehicle for you

Posted on January 24, 2017 at 12:33 pm

Everyone has different requirements when it comes to their car, van, motorbike or other means of transport. There is a lot to think about to find the right option, whether it is a privately owned vehicle or a company car. We have put together some key suggestions for you when choosing your ideal vehicle:

  • How much will it cost? Look at the price of new vehicles as well as second-hand models. It may be worth considering vehicle finance as well.
  • Can you get insurance? Insurance will depend on a lot of factors, like your age and driving experience. Check that you can get insured, and for an affordable price as well.
  • Can you keep up with the maintenance? Buying a second-hand car might seem like a great money-saving idea, but if it is too old, it may be a false economy. Consider how much it will need doing to it in the coming years and get it independently checked before you buy.
