With the UK well in to winter, if you haven’t already, you should check that your car is winter ready. There are certain checks that you can do to try and eliminate problems during the winter or be prepared if they do happen.

Firstly check your tyres have a good amount of tread and are not damaged. With the roads getting wetter and soon becoming icy, good grip is essential for safe driving. Check that you have anti-freeze in your coolant to stop it freezing up potentially seizing the engine and that you window screen washer also has anti-freeze in it.

Keeping emergency supplies in the car is always a good idea but especially in the winter when it can get very dark and cold. A warm blanket, chocolate bar and drink are the must haves along with a torch that can come in handy too. Make sure that you always carry a warning triangle and if possible, spare wheel, space saver or wheel repair foam.
