The craze for private number plates still exists as seen on the cars of many passengers and drivers. They were once considered luxury and were used only by the society’s elite crowd. Things have changed today as the market has come up with multiple cheap number plates. Getting personalised number plates is similar to getting a car registration where numbers and letters are combined to get a unique number plate.
Things Represented on a Private Number Plate:
These plates usually include the owner’s name or particular words or contain some numbers significant to the vehicle’s owner. If you’re looking for an affordable option, you could get plates containing your initials and you can get this within £300.
Where to Buy?
You just can’t create a number plate containing numbers or letters of your choice. You must follow a specific format as set by the DVLA. You can buy one from the DVLA website or from several online independent dealers. (more…)

A few simple steps can make all the difference when washing your car. First off, never allow bird mess or tree sap to remain on the car as it can quickly damage the finish. When washing the car, park it in a shaded area to avoid uneven drying.
A jet wash is a good way to blast off most of the dirt as you don’t want small particles scratching the finish when you use a cloth later. Next, wash the car with a cloth or specialist wash mitt using an appropriate car shampoo. Using two buckets, one to rinse your cloth and one for clean soapy water, wash the car from top to bottom, avoiding a circular motion which could leave swirl marks.
When you’re done washing, rinse of the soapy residue with clean water. When you do this, look for the water “beading” off the paints surface: if it doesn’t do this then the wax coat needs replenishing. To avoid unsightly water marks you should dry the car quickly with a drying cloth or chamois.

Keeping your car clean inside and out is a good start, you will reduce the risk of damage to paint and rusting problems, but there’s so much more to keeping your car in tip top condition. Make sure you get the car regularly serviced and ensure all major servicing intervals are met. If you have a second hand car and don’t know the service history you may need to replace things like the cam belt. Keep an eye on all fluid levels and make sure you use the manufacturers recommended fluids. You can find this information in the cars manual.
Don’t allow brake pads to become to worn as you could end up damaging the more costly disks and callipers. After heavy breaking (eg. coming off the motorway onto a round about) don’t sit with the brake pedal depressed. The pads could warp the disks when they’re hot. Use the parking break where possible. With a manual car, don’t sit in traffic in gear with the clutch down as this increases wear to the clutch. Driving smoothly and carrying less speed into corners will put less stress on the cars suspension. Bumping up kerbs can knock wheels out of alignment which can lead to costly repairs and uneven wear on tyres.

When you have a shiny new car you are usually desperate to keep it just that…shiny and new, so how can you keep the bodywork looking immaculate?
One of the main damages caused to car bodywork is caused by bird lime, (AKA bird poo) when this is left on the car it can very quickly eat away at the lacquer of the paintwork and take off the shine making the finish look patchy. Damage to the paint work can also be caused by leaves and berries falling on to the car whilst parked causing acid-damage to the finish. The best way to avoid this is to keep a bottle of water in the car along with some tissue so that you can immediately remove any bird lime or debris from the car before any damage can occur.
If you are driving along a road with loose chippings then it’s always best to follow the advisory speed limits as driving over them too fast could result in the loose stones chipping your paintwork and causing substantial damage to the cars finish.
